UP Police uncover international human trafficking ring, 2 arrested in Punjab

The Uttar Pradesh Police have uncovered an international human trafficking syndicate, arresting two individuals involved in the operation. The arrests were made late on Tuesday night by a team from Kalyanpur Police Station. The accused were identified as Sandeep Kumar Sharma, a resident of Puri Colony in Faridkot, Punjab, and Karandeep Singh from Baba Jandveer village in the Chireta police station area of Amritsar district, Punjab.

The investigation began after a complaint was filed on November 15 by Deependra Singh, a resident of Harisingh Ki Bagiya, Kalyanpur Kala. Singh reported that his brother, Shivendra Singh, who was working as a salesman in a company in Dada Nagar, Delhi, had been lured to Thailand by Sandeep Kumar Sharma under the false promise of a job. After arriving in Thailand, Shivendra Singh did not receive the job offer and was instead taken to Burma, where he was allegedly held captive in the forests of the region.

Following the complaint, Kalyanpur Police registered a case and began an investigation. The police team traveled to Punjab and served notices to the accused. On November 26, both Sandeep Kumar Sharma and Karandeep Singh came to the police station to give their statements. During their questioning, evidence was gathered linking them to the human trafficking operation. As a result, both individuals were arrested, and legal action was taken, leading to their remand in judicial custody. The investigation into the trafficking network is ongoing. Authorities are continuing to gather information to determine the extent of the operation and are working to identify other potential victims.
